Why is Twitter being force fed to the general public?

I know very few people who don't have facebook. Most people I knew had myspace. I know one person who actually has Twitter. These other sites got big because people liked them and used them. It seems that few people use Twitter but you can't get through a page in the newspaper or watch a few minutes of televised news without seeing it mentioned. It seems like the media outlets figure if they bring it up enough everyone will have one. Does anyone know what the deal is?Why is Twitter being force fed to the general public?

The question you have ask, I have ask over and over. I went and set up a Twitter account, simply by intimation. But, I checked through it, thinking to myself this is stupid. So why it is, all the news media tell us to send twitter comments. Even Dr Phil said he couldn't live without twitter.

Kyle, it beats me all hollow. People I know who have something to say are NOT going to jam it into 140 characters! Let us hope that this will be one of those crazes that is here...and then it's gone. Can't be too soon for me!
